Arguments against hobby hunters

Hobby hunters virtually fall into the category of a so-called aggressive sect with a missionary claim and a pronounced militant elite consciousness. Well-known propaganda material from the trigger-happy hunting community is full of images and descriptions of their trophy, death and weapon cult, which disgusts +/- 99% of the normal population.

Recreational hunting pretends to be something it is not. Recreational hunting as practiced today is not a centuries-old craft, tradition or culture.

Those who kill senselessly do not protect, and it serves no purpose to civilized society. Today's hunting with all its animal cruelties occurs predominantly NOT! in the interest of society, nature and the cultural landscape.

Hobby hunters (except for vivisection) inflict the most suffering and abuse on animals, particularly through their method of killing. Recreational hunting has contradicted an enlightened, scientific and ethical understanding of nature and animals in the strongest terms for decades. Today's hunting is a pathological passion – one that creates suffering. A real madness. What can one expect from problem hunters who cannot grasp the difference between a forest berry and a fox or songbird in their hearts? In today's society it is understood that whoever feels nothing when killing is severely disturbed.

Everyone agrees that habitat for wildlife is becoming increasingly smaller. And here too, the entire perversion and hypocrisy of the hunting system comes to light. When humans destroy nature and wildlife habitat, there is no need to unnecessarily hunt them as well, and certainly not during the harsh winter period. Wildlife is doubly punished here, even though they are not to blame for anything. The hobby hunter is no friend of animals - his name already says it all. Hobby hunters don't just shoot sick or old wildlife. No, they shoot at everything (including protected species) for pure pleasure and even pay for it. Unlike predators, hobby hunters cannot make qualitative influences on wildlife populations due to shooting distance. On a driven hunt, up to 10 times more shots are fired than the final 'hunting bag' amounts to. Upon closer analysis, hobby hunters are anything but environmental, nature or animal protectors. No wildlife group has a more miserable ecological footprint than hobby hunters.

Interestingly, public opinion has a completely different image of hobby hunters. Foresters, farmers, and nature conservation organizations shape nature management. The hobby hunter somehow still manages to be the fifth wheel on the wagon. From there, he often torpedoes nature conservation projects of others or makes nonsensical demands.

Recreational hunting has failed. For decades, hobby hunters have been trying to regulate wildlife populations, which they have not succeeded in doing in a civilized manner to this day and never will.

Throughout the country, farmers, winegrowers and forest owners complain about damage to crops, even though they are compensated for it. This is a good example of the inability of hobby hunters to fulfill their duty. Recreational hunting is therefore ineffective and counterproductive. Even taxpayers must pay for the hobby of problem hunters. Recreational hunting does not solve the root cause of the problem, but is nationwide part of and cause of the problem.

Populations have not been truly regulated for decades, but rather decimated, manipulated, with birth rates mostly stimulated – losses quickly compensated. Consequences of current methods are that, for example, not only do deer or stags become more shy and completely shift their daytime activities into the night. This leads to many traffic accidents and immense follow-up costs for taxpayers, for example in forestry, insurance, health insurance, etc.

Hobby hunters bring stress, panic and chaos into a highly sensitive social structure of wildlife. That's not enough. The wrong animals are repeatedly shot, thus severely damaging the social behavior and genetics of the wildlife species.

Unprofessional sniping is the main measure and understanding of today's recreational hunting. Large parts of the population no longer have any understanding for hunting activities, just as today's 'hunting' has long since ceased to deserve the term hunting.

Hunter slogans are pure window dressing and empty phrases. If you analyze the hunter faction in politics, you quickly realize that they rarely if ever engage for nature - what becomes clear instead is that exploitation, lack of culture and self-interest are their true interests. The experts of hunters are mostly just representatives of an egotistical lobby to maintain and whitewash animal cruelty. In environmental rankings, hunters occupy last place. We must not let these troublemakers get away with any more lies.

If hobby hunters supposedly really practice nature conservation, they would and could continue to do so regardless of their hunting activities. Every hunting activity is a disturbance to the entire wildlife population. The public is also harassed by hunters. The only ones who do not respect quiet zones in our forests and nature are predominantly the hunters.

The public is knowingly deceived in hunting matters. This is orchestrated by state administrations and hunting associations, supported by politics largely disinterested in animal and nature conservation issues, and disseminated through frequently uncritical or even biased media.

The Canton of Geneva has had a hunting ban for non-professional hunters since May 19, 1974. The hunting ban in Geneva was a sensation and attracted great attention far beyond the canton. For the hunting world, it was a shock – and remains so today. Because the Geneva example proves that it works without hunters – even in densely populated cultural landscapes – indeed, that nature and animals fare much better and that people also benefit from increased animal observations and biodiversity. The health and well-being of all involved flourishes.

Sanitary and therapeutic culling are not the same as regulatory hunting based on hunting junk biology or misunderstood nature experience.

The necessity and prestige of hunting have greatly diminished today. Hobby hunters with inferiority complexes are permanently under criticism from all directions. The hunting agenda politicizes completely contrary to common sense. Hunting revenues make up almost nothing in cantonal and municipal budgets. It makes no sense for cantons to cling to models that have not proven themselves for decades.

It is known today that it primarily works like a travel agency organizing attractive hunts, which are planned by the Office for Hunting and Fishing. Humans are degraded by the office to predators and wildlife to livestock and breeding animals. Hunter gangs have for many decades selected animals according to trophy potential. This form of 'breeding' has nothing to do with natural adaptation and healthy populations. Certainly there was justification for hunting long ago for food acquisition. But this is no longer the case today. Processed game meat even makes people sick according to the WHO and is in the same toxicity class as arsenic or asbestos!

Criminal hobby hunters typically do not even lose their hunting license when convicted under today's lenient justice system.

Hunting today is conducted not only by individual hunting license holders, but mainly within the framework of large-scale, commercially organized events for 'hobby killers' as part of a perverse and bloody entertainment industry.

Recreational hunting does not regulate in the sense of natural frequency of wildlife populations, but creates excessive or suppressed populations. The unnatural problems and overpopulations are particularly caused by hobby hunters themselves, so that hobby hunters can assign themselves a supposedly legal mandate. Recreational hunting has long had nothing to do with honorable wildlife management. Organizing attractive hunts is the program. In relevant circles, it is deceptively called 'wildlife populations adapted to habitat,' 'fine regulation,' 'two-stage system,' 'dynamic management,' 'development aid,' 'harvesting,' 'skimming' or such animal-despising propaganda. Recreational hunting is not about comprehensive biodiversity or protection of individual wildlife, but about blood money revenues. Wildlife has been forced for decades into biology and genetics that run counter to them.

The prey belongs primarily to the predators and not to the hobby hunters, on this point nature organizations with common sense are in agreement.

By law, wild animals do not belong to hobby hunters (res nullius). Taxpayers and wild animals deserve serious and scientific wildlife management.

Politics

When hunter gangs argue, it always reminds one of the era of slave owners, gladiatorial fights, witch burnings, democracy without women's suffrage, apartheid, etc. Back then, people also believed these things were indispensable. And yes, slavery was also once an abhorrent cultural and economic factor.

The murmuring about species or nature conservation is merely prepared as hunting legitimation for a killing addiction, to conceal the true motives and does not withstand normal scientific scrutiny.

"JagdSchweiz knows that wildlife populations would basically regulate themselves – even in our cultural landscape" wrote the umbrella organization of Swiss hunters on 29.8.2011.

Half of the huntable animal species are extinct or threatened with extinction (e.g. elk, wisent, lynx, wolf, wildcat, capercaillie, black grouse, hazel grouse, great bustard, eagles, falcons, vultures), and this after one hundred years of huntsman-like care. When hunters talk about wildlife biological connections, sustainability, etc., it is actually hunter's tales and garbage biology.

"Fair chase" has nothing to do with animal welfare. The fair chase ethic of hunters is diametrically opposed to animal protection laws. Fair chase is about as far removed from animal protection laws as a cow is from bicycle riding. Hunting is simply criminal. It's just that our legal system is not yet advanced enough to consider this in criminal law.

Ethics

What today's hobby hunter considers "good" has nothing to do with truth, science, honor, decency, religion, ethics, consideration for others or anything else, except with what the hunter wants. In this way, the violation of others' rights, every foul, every evil deed is committed by the hunter.

Already in the Middle Ages (Council of Trent 1545 and 1563) the Catholic Church forbade close organs from participating in hunting activities, because killing an animal and spilling blood fundamentally contradicts the nature of cult and religion.

The word sect (from Latin secta'party', 'doctrine', 'school of thought') is defined among other things as follows:

A small community, often with a hierarchical structure, whose views are usually very radical and aberrant and contradict the ethical fundamental values of society.

The latter is recognizable, for example, in the fair chase ethic of hobby hunters, which diametrically contradicts animal protection laws in many countries or the prohibited depictions of violence of tortured animals by hunting rebels in the media. Also, one does not torture and shoot animals for fun or offer them for such purposes according to ethical fundamental values in our society. The fair chase ethic of hunters is something like a mirage.

Killing wild animals as a nature experience, pleasure, adventure and for fur is a disgusting and burdensome phenomenon. There is no justification for such violence and brutality.

Those who hold the ladder are as guilty as the thief.
