Bergwaldprojekt 2024: Volunteers for the Protective Forest
The Bergwaldprojekt offers around 160 project weeks at 52 locations in Switzerland in 2024. Volunteers support forestry services in protecting mountain forests.
Now is the right moment to lend a hand: weather extremes such as drought, storms or heavy rainfall are causing a great deal of urgent work in the forest.
Volunteers from the Bergwaldprojekt support local forestry services and make a difference in the mountain forest.
Mountain forests endangered by climate change
The services provided by our mountain forests are indispensable to all of us, yet so threatened by climate change. Stable mountain slopes that can hold back avalanches, rockfalls and floods are relied upon not only by mountain dwellers and visitors — the protection extends all the way to the cities.
New deployment sites in 2024
In addition to tried-and-tested offerings, the Bergwaldprojekt is introducing new options: in Faido TI it will be possible to take part in a weekend deployment. And volunteers can now also work in Grindelwald BE. This gives volunteers an insight into how much work by forestry services goes into making holiday experiences possible.
