USA: Hobby hunters shoot each other

A 30-year-old father and his 9-year-old daughter were shot dead on New Year's Day in a forest in Walterboro, South Carolina, USA.

Hobby hunters mistake father and daughter for wildlife

Kim Drawdy had written on Facebook that recreational hunting was his passion: “It’s not something I do, it’s a part of who I am.” Shortly afterwards, he and his young daughter were shot in the forest by other hobby hunters. Apparently, the two were mistaken for wildlife. First aid measures by emergency responders were unsuccessful, and father and daughter died at the scene.

According to the hunting authority of the US state of South Carolina, four hobby hunters were in the area. They were hunting deer in the forest. The exact circumstances are not yet known at this time. The question of why Kim Drawdy and little Lauren were mistaken for deer, whether they were wearing orange warning vests, and who fired the shots at 2:30 p.m. in Walterboro still needs to be thoroughly investigated.
