American Gun Lobby NRA Loses
Not only in America is the hunters' and gun lobby corrupt through and through.
NRA loses contract for the promotion of recreational hunting by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
16.3 Million Dollars for Trump's Election Campaign
The National Rifle Association (NRA) spent 16.3 million dollars during the 2020 U.S. election campaign in an attempt to secure pro-gun and pro-hunting concessions from former President Donald Trump.
Nevertheless, the National Rifle Association has now lost the «Sweetheart Deal» with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
Short-Lived Agreement
The «10-year partnership» lasted, even on paper, only eight months.
The Trump administration had opened more national wildlife refuges for wildlife to recreational hunting than those of Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton combined.
«The Service's memorandum of understanding with the National Rifle Association was not adequately reviewed by agency staff or the Interior Department's legal counsel. Therefore, the Service has terminated the agreement», said a spokesperson for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.
Recreational Hunting Industry in Decline
The recreational hunting community has been shrinking every year for 45 years, declining by more than half a million hobby hunters per year since 2011. The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service counted only 11.5 million recreational hunters in 2016. More than half of the U.S. recreational hunting community is now in the 45-to-64 age group. Overall, only 4.4% of Americans still hunt.
Humiliation for the NRA
Just two days after the ceremonial signing of the memorandum, the NRA filed for bankruptcy on 15 January 2021.After the Attorney General of the State of New York, Letitia James, had filed a lawsuit on 6 August 2020 to dissolve the organisation as irreparably corrupt.
Wayne LaPierre has been chairman of the National Rifle Association since 1991, as Animals 24-7 reports.
