Night-vision device with exceptional permit

A Solothurn hobby hunter was hunting with a night-vision device, which is generally prohibited. He had received an exceptional permit, but was only allowed to use it to hunt wild boar. When he made an error in April 2021 and accidentally shot a badger, he reported himself.

Confusion “not comprehensible”

The administrative court ruled clearly: “Recognising an animal before the shot is undoubtedly one of the most elementary skills. That a badger could be confused with a wild boar is not comprehensible.” The hobby hunter does not get his exceptional permit back.
