Train runs over and kills young wolf

On the morning of Thursday, 15 February 2018, a Rhaetian Railway train struck a wolf between Tamins and Trin in the canton of Graubünden, killing the animal.

As a Rhaetian Railway (RhB) train was travelling between Tamins and Trin on Thursday morning, a young wolf ran onto the tracks. It was struck and killed by the train, as the State Chancellery of the Canton of Graubünden stated in a press release. In all likelihood, the animal was a pup from last year, probably from the Calanda pack, according to the Graubünden Office for Hunting and Fisheries.

The collision was reported immediately and the animal was recovered by the game wardens. The carcass was handed over to the pathological institute of the University of Bern for further examination, where a genetic analysis will now be carried out.

A young animal was already killed on the tracks in 2013
