Aargau wants to shoot raccoon
This is lived "speciesism," which means: Reto Fischer demonstrates with his attitude toward non-native animals once again that he is convinced he is superior to all other species due to his kind and can therefore treat them as he wishes. This attitude is more than reprehensible and must no longer be tolerated.
Raccoon sighted in Rheinfelden
A news scout reported a raccoon sighted in Rheinfelden in the canton of Aargau to a tabloid newspaper.
The danger to the native ecosystem is great, proselytizes Reto Fischer, "wildlife specialist" from the Hunting Authority in the canton of Aargau in the online medium.
Again and again, claims are made from hunting circles that, upon closer analysis, originate in hunting literature and similarly unscientific sources.

No scientific basis for smear campaigns
According to experts, there is no scientific basis for the outright smear campaigns against these intelligent animals and their intensive and cruel hunting.
The public is well advised not to report raccoon sightings to local authorities or hobby hunters, as the animals pose no direct threat to humans, unlike the hobby hunter.
Non-lethal measures possible
There would be other options, non-lethal measures for population control of raccoons, as also provided for by EU regulations. But these are not applied because the militant hobby hunters in Switzerland would also like to take action themselves, citing EU law in some cases.
