Hunting

Knife-Wielding Lasse Böckmann

A hobby hunter from Bavaria sets dogs on wild boar and kills them with a knife. Hunting portals report negatively, and his hunting licence is revoked.

Editorial Team Wild beim Wild — 27 June 2021

The suspected animal abuser was charged last year, among other things, with having set hunting dogs on healthy wild boar, which, according to the penalty order, constitutes a violation of the Animal Welfare Act.

Various German hunting portals also reported negatively about the wildlife killer from Cham in Bavaria, who operates under the motto: «I like to hunt at the limit.«

For example, jagderleben.de:

or

Lasse Böckmann, he leaves no doubt about it, loves hunting with the boar spear, whereby his dogs separate smaller sows from the sounder and then clamp onto them with their teeth. Whimpering in pain from the dogs biting down on them, the animals lead Mr Böckmann to the scene, and he moves in for the kill. Using a camera mounted firmly on his head, he lets his following share in the killing of the sow with a bladed weapon.

In addition to videos in which he seeks to introduce internet users to various weapons and the killing of wild animals, the suspected animal abuser posts martial videos of his boar hunts. Through these sensationalist videos, the online shop operator — who appears to suffer from a pathological need for attention — attempts to draw viewers to his outdoor and hunting accessories products in his online shop. To his over 33,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel he likes to present himself during his talks with a cigarette dangling from the corner of his mouth, writes the German hunting portal.

Die Waidmänner

On Lasse Böckmann's online shop, the weapons enthusiast warns viewers before his videos:

Warning! These videos contain hunting scenes and weapons of all kinds! Warning! These videos contain scenes that are not suitable for everyone! Please consider carefully whether you are prepared for these images.

Ironically, Böckmann was reported by neighboring «hunting colleagues», which triggered legal proceedings. These also concerned his mental instability and reliability. According to the knife-brandisher, his hunting license was promptly revoked by the responsible regulatory authority. The disgusting videos by Lasse Böckmann, on which the criminal complaint is based, are no longer publicly accessible – set to private by Böckmann on YouTube.

Lasse Böckmann has not written any public rebuttal to the complaints, even though he had a year to explain why, out of the deepest motivations, he takes joy and pleasure in destroying living beings without regard – combined with a capitalist motive to draw attention to his webshop selling knives, weapons, and more.

The Lawsuits

With financial support from numerous huntsmen, Böckmann is now taking legal action and resorting to intimidation against the platforms that reported on the penalty order against him. Following a donation campaign on PayPal, organized by hunting companion Matthias Busch, 22,000 euros flowed into his coffers.

A typical donor:

I can only say one thing: in the 2 years I’ve been hunting, I’ve met more assholes among hunters than in my entire 38 years put together.

After proceedings against him were apparently dropped, Böckmann is now suing for defamation, insults, falsehoods, and so on. He also intends to claim damages, despite having no judicial acquittal. Suddenly he finds it objectionable that photos of him hunting were shared by third parties without his consent.Apparently, it no longer fits his business plan to have videos and photos shared as widely as possible in order to promote reprehensible acts against living beings. Why the proceedings were dropped is not yet known to IG Wild beim Wild. Did the hobby hunters who filed the complaint simply back down?

Drive hunts and battue hunts in Germany would likely have faced insurmountable obstacles had Lasse Böckmann been convicted.

IG Wild beim Wild is firmly convinced that animal cruelty must not be protected but must be brought before the courts time and again. We will handle the case of Lasse Böckmann in exactly the same way – who, according to his email of 21.6.2021, is in the process of taking legal action against IG on account of this article:

For almost a year, you have had an article about me on your website. This report is sensationalist, defamatory, and in no way neutral or objective. It contains lies, insults, and falsehoods. The proceedings have already been dropped, and therefore it is your duty to delete the article irrevocably!

Lasse Böckmann 21.6.2021

As long as there is no judicial ruling, no one is obliged to delete anything. Just because something has not succeeded legally does not suddenly make the objective facts wrong or ethically acceptable. Driven hunts and battue hunts, for example, are a form of animal cruelty, since not only the targeted game but many other animals are disturbed and flushed out. Moreover, the risk of stray shots is particularly high precisely because the animals are in motion.

Someone who celebrates himself during military operations and presents himself to the public with militant videos, as Lasse Böckmann did while hunting, would be immediately dishonourably discharged and referred to a psychiatric facility.

A passion for hunting is not a social mandate or a right, nor can it be. The risk group of hobby hunters promotes a culture of senseless violence all the way down to primary schools.

It is statistically proven that people who torture and kill animals also do not hesitate to torture and murder people. Studies have by now convinced sociologists, legislators, and courts that acts of violence against animals demand our attention. They can be early signs of a dangerous psychological disorder that includes human victims. And indeed, particularly in Germany, there are numerous cases of femicide committed by hobby hunters.

Every act of violence manifests something that exists pathologically within the hobby hunter, but which cannot be expressed in everyday life because society no longer tolerates it. War, torture, persecution, rape, violence, killing, and execution as instruments of power to dominate fellow human beings are no longer accepted in our cultural sphere. But killing has a component, and hunting remains a stage on which this power is acted out. Animals are the suffering victims in this unfair game.
