The golden jackal is spreading across Europe. In Romania alone, there are currently almost 29’000. The climate change brought them here, explains biologist Mihai Marinov. They are also found in Switzerland.

Recreational hunting counterproductive

The recreational hunting as a means of controlling jackals is considered counterproductive by Marinov: “If their numbers are artificially reduced, they simply produce more offspring.” Recreational hunting fails as population control.

Disappearance of wolves as the cause?
