A gripping thriller about a series of murders targeting the hunters of a village, for which a passionate vegetarian is suspected.
In a remote village on the Polish-Czech border, retired bridge engineer Janina Duszejko (Agnieszka Mandat) lives in seclusion with her dogs.
The passionate vegetarian is branded as completely eccentric by the other villagers.
Mysterious series of murders targeting recreational hunters
She repeatedly clashes above all with the men of the village, who are enthusiastic recreational hunters. When Janina’s beloved four-legged companions disappear one day, the retiree is left utterly stunned. But then a mysterious series of murders begins.

Traces of wild animals at the crime scenes
The victims all belong to Janina’s most bitter adversaries. The retiree soon falls under grave suspicion. But what is the significance of the wild animal tracks found near the bodies? Since no one is willing to believe her, Janina must investigate on her own…
The film is based on the novel «Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead» by Olga Tokarczuk (Nobel Prize laureate 2018) and addresses the violence of recreational hunting in a powerful way.
More on the subject of recreational hunting: What the research says about this is shown by Hunting fact-checked: the state of research.
The position of IG Wild beim Wild: IG Wild beim Wild rejects recreational hunting. Our model is the canton of Geneva, which has managed without recreational hunting since 1974: without hunting seasons, without hunting dogs, without driven hunts, without high seats, without the animal cruelty and crime that go hand in hand with hunting season elsewhere. What has worked there for over fifty years disproves every position paper by JagdSchweiz. An association that bases its policy on claims it refutes in its own documents is not a professional organisation, but a factory for misinformation.
