Austria: Federal Hunting Law Urgently Needed
People's initiative: At an event today in front of Parliament, 9 boards representing the 9 federal states were displayed, each showing 5 examples of glaring contradictions between hunting laws.
Absurd Differences Between Federal States
In Burgenland, shooting nursing wild boar mothers is generally prohibited; in Lower Austria it is permitted for 7 months per year, and in Tyrol at any time. Enclosure hunting is banned in Styria but permitted in Lower Austria until 2029. In small Austria, animals must be treated equally.
