Wolf poached again in Valais
A dead young wolf with a gunshot wound is found near Torgon in Valais. It is not the first case of wolf poaching in the canton.
On Saturday, 23 January 2021, a hiker discovered a dead young wolf in the Torgon area.
Projectile passed through the animal
X-rays carried out at the animal hospital on Monday showed that a projectile had passed through the animal. The cantonal office for hunting, fisheries and wildlife reported the find to the cantonal police, who launched an investigation under the direction of the public prosecutor's office.
Repeated poaching in Valais
A similar incident had occurred in March 2016. At that time, a heavily decomposed wolf carcass was discovered on the bank of the Rhone near Raron VS. The animal, designated M63, died as a result of gunshot wounds. The criminal investigation was dropped in 2017 due to lack of evidence.
In February 2017, the dead female wolf F16 was found in the Val d’Anniviers with a bullet lodged in her shoulder. A year later, a Valais hobby hunter accidentally shot the female wolf F28 during a fox hunt.
