Wolf Massacre Valais: 27 of 34 Wolves Killed

The wolves will not understand what is happening to them. For years, humans first fed them abundantly within their territory due to negligent herd protection. And now suddenly shots are being fired at them everywhere, even though these wolves were never hostile towards those people.

Rösti Orders Regulation

Following approval from the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) and on the orders of Federal Councillor Albert Rösti (SVP), State Councillor Frédéric Favre ordered the unscientific regulation of the wolf in Valais.

State Councillor Frédéric Favre has approved the disproportionate regulatory cull for the packs of Nanz, Augstbord, Hérens-Mandelon, Le Fou-Isérables, Les Toules, Les Hauts-Forts and Chablais. The Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) had approved the regulation request from the cantonal hunting and wildlife service on 27 November 2023, following a submission dated 15 November.

On 1 December 2023, the cantonal wildlife wardens, accompanied by the hobby hunting support group, removed a young wolf from the Augstbord pack within the approved perimeter as part of the senseless wolf regulation.

Seven of thirteen packs are to be eradicated

The killed wolf will be autopsied according to the standard applicable procedure. The genetic analysis will be carried out at the Laboratory for Conservation Biology at the University of Lausanne.

The canton will proceed to completely remove all seven of the thirteen wolf packs currently present in Valais. This corresponds to a total removal of approximately 34 wolves from a population estimated at 90 to 120 individuals. The entire removal process could take several years.

The authorisation for regulation is valid until 31 January 2024. Until then, the number of wolves removed and the relevant information will be published on the dedicated website of the cantonal hunting and wildlife service in Valais: www.vs.ch/de/web/scpf/regulation-proactive-du-loup

Wolf management in Switzerland is now entirely devoid of facts.
