Hobby hunter kills ex-girlfriend at Frankfurt Airport

Four months after the tragic incident in a parking garage at Frankfurt Airport, the Frankfurt public prosecutor's office is certain: a 47-year-old man shot and killed his former partner (50) in the early hours of March 31 and subsequently took his own life. Before his death, the gunman also shot his hunting dog.

Perpetrator was a hobby hunter from Hamm

According to the Westfälischer Anzeiger, the perpetrator was a hobby hunter from Hamm, North Rhine-Westphalia.

The murdered ex-partner, a flight attendant from the Sauerland region, had arrived in Frankfurt on the night of the murder and was apparently awaited by her ex-partner in the parking garage.

Murder weapon legally acquired

The body of the 50-year-old woman was discovered on March 31 at around 3 a.m. by a witness. The police searched the parking garage and discovered the body of the 47-year-old man from Hamm. In the trunk of his parked car, officers also found the slain hunting dog.

The 47-year-old hobby hunter had legally acquired the firearm. The public prosecutor's office stated that he had borrowed the revolver “upon presentation of the required documents” from a firearms dealer.

Investigation concluded

On Tuesday, the public prosecutor's office confirmed that the investigation had now been completed and closed. The 47-year-old man was the sole perpetrator. The IG Wild beim Wild systematically documents crime in connection with recreational hunting.
