He encourages people around the world to save our planet by removing meat, eggs, and other animal products from their diet. The racing driver can therefore add another title to his collection: PETA Germany, PETA UK, and PETA USA have named Lewis Hamilton PETA's Person of the Year 2018.
PETA Founder Praises Hamilton's Commitment
«Lewis Hamilton has proven that he is not only a fantastic driver, but also stands up for good and advocates for all the animals that suffer in food production,» said PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk.
Hamilton frequently speaks to international media about his vegan diet. «The pollution caused by the number of cows being bred is simply unbelievable. The animal cruelty is terrible and I don’t want to support that.»
Part of PETA's motto is: animals are not here for us to eat. The organisation points out that farmed animal agriculture accounts for an estimated 14 to 18 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. Living vegan saves the lives of nearly 200 animals per year. More on animal rights.
