54 outfitters selling trophy hunts

Animal protection advocates found that at least 54 outfitters at one of the largest hunting fairs in the EU, the Cinegética in Madrid, were selling trophy hunts targeting internationally protected species. The prices: 900 euros for a giraffe, 4’500 euros for hobby hunting a lioness, up to 60’000 euros for a rhinoceros.

89% of Spaniards opposed to trophy hunting

“It is shocking to see that the Cinegética provides the trophy hunting industry with an advertising platform,” says Dr. Joanna Swabe of Humane Society International. 89% of Spanish citizens oppose trophy hunting. Spain is the second largest importer of hunting trophies in the EU after Germany. More on the topics of crime and hunting and animal rights.
