Ticino: Investigations Against Several Hobby Hunters
In Ticino, several hobby hunters are under investigation. The violations range from illegal killings to prohibited weapons.
A serious case of poaching in the canton of Ticino, which investigators are still examining.
The news comes just days after the end of the open hunting season and concerns primarily the forests of the Valle Maggia.
At the centre of the investigation is a group of individuals (according to our information, at least four) from the Locarnese and Vallemaggia regions, who went hunting in the forests at night equipped with night-vision devices and specially modified firearms.
In this manner, they are alleged to have killed several wild animals, including deer, roe deer, and also badgers, which were found by police during a house search.
A considerable haul, which police discovered during checks on those involved, who were also reported to the public prosecutor's office for the use and possession of unlawful hunting equipment.
Trophies and kilograms of packaged meat were apparently seized, as were rifles and ammunition, writes laregione.ch
