Hobby hunters offend not only against nature but also against fellow hunters
Time and again one reads of overturned high seats for which hunting opponents are held responsible. But often it is the recreational hunters themselves.
Wildlife cameras stolen, hunting pulpit set on fire
In Pöhla in the Erzgebirge, a hobby hunter stole from his fellow hunters and promptly walked into a trap.
«Chips kept disappearing from our wildlife cameras, sometimes the entire device,» says Bernstein, who acts as hunting warden for the lease holder. «In addition, signs were repeatedly torn down and even a hunting pulpit was set on fire.»
In mid-January, Bernstein installed a surveillance camera. Less than six hours later came the bull’s-eye: a well-known hobby hunter and farmer had stolen the wildlife camera. He fetched tools, returned, and broke open the pulpit to steal two more cameras.
Multiple charges filed
Bernstein and his colleagues were able to track the alleged thief’s movements to the nearest metre, as they had built transmitters into the cameras. All of this resulted in multiple charges against the hobby hunter, as tag24.de reports. More on the topic of crime and hunting.
