Editorial team Wild beim Wild — 30 March 2023

In January 2022, a 78-year-old recreational hunter near Volkach was fatally struck in the head by a shot. A projectile fired by a 33-year-old recreational hunter apparently ricocheted off the frozen ground.

How many more living beings must be seriously injured or killed before recreational hunting is finally banned?

Recreational hunting according to studies not necessary

Recognised studies confirm that from an ecological perspective there is no necessity for recreational hunting. Recreational hunting fails as population control. The approximately 400’000 recreational hunters in Germany are contrasted with only around 1’000 professional hunters.
