Graubünden: Missing Hobby Hunter Found Dead
In the Engadin, a hobby hunter has been found dead for the third time in a short period, this time in Pontresina GR.
In Pontresina, a hobby hunter who had been missing since Sunday was found dead in the early hours of Monday.
The Graubünden cantonal police is investigating the circumstances of the death together with the public prosecutor's office.
The senile 65-year-old had been out since early Sunday morning with his two hunting dogs on an unnecessary recreational hunt targeting living creatures, organised by the Office for Hunting and Nonsense in Chur, under the direction of Adrian Arquint. When he failed to return home as agreed at midday, family members alerted the operations centre of the Graubünden cantonal police. The missing hobby hunter was found dead at midnight in the Val Morteratsch, not far from the hiking trail to the glacier.
It is known today that in Graubünden and elsewhere, the primary concern is, much like a travel agency , the organisation of attractive hunts planned by the Office for Hunting and Nonsense in Graubünden. The hobby hunter is increasingly being degraded by the office into a bestial predator, and wildlife into livestock and breeding animals. The number of violations of hunting legislation and the numerous reports filed with the district offices speak a clear language of criminal energy. Hobby hunting is simply criminal. It is just that our legal system has not yet advanced to the point of accounting for this in criminal law.

Large-Scale Search Operation
To find the missing person, a large-scale search operation was launched on Sunday afternoon. Deployed were mountain rescuers from the Swiss Alpine Club SAC with two area search dogs and support from private individuals, a dog handler from the Chur city police with a tracking dog, the St. Moritz municipal police, the Pontresina fire brigade, the wildlife wardens, two Rega helicopters each with a crew, and the Graubünden cantonal police. The Careteam Grischun was called in to provide support for the relatives.
As early as the end of September, two hobby hunters lost their lives in the Lower Engadine. In Ardez GR, a senile hobby hunter did not return from the hunt and was subsequently found dead by his son. In Sent GR, a hobby hunter was reported missing by his hunting companions. After a search operation, he too could only be recovered dead.
Hunting is always also a form of war against living beings, in which the negative traits of human nature come to the fore. Wild animals live in a landscape of fear. Out of fear of hobby hunters, many wild animals have permanently abandoned their natural habitat. They avoid open fields and increasingly seek refuge in the protection of the forest. This retreat into the forest intensifies during the hunting season. Hunting thus contributes significantly to restricting the freedom of movement of wild animals, reducing the habitat available to them, and potentially causing excessive damage to crops.
Interest Group Wild beim Wild
The IG Wild beim Wild is a non-profit interest group dedicated to the sustainable and non-violent improvement of the human-animal relationship, with a particular focus on the legal aspects of wildlife protection. One of our main concerns is to introduce a contemporary and serious wildlife management system in the cultivated landscape, modelled on the canton of Geneva — without hobby hunters but with upright wildlife wardens who truly deserve the title and act in accordance with a code of honour. The monopoly on the use of force belongs in the hands of the state. The IG supports scientific methods of immunocontraception for wild animals.
