Many wolf opponents argue that wolves pose a threat to animals and humans. At the same time, around 84 million livestock were slaughtered in Switzerland in 2022: 230’500 per day, 9’600 per hour. The cultivation of animal feed accounts for around 90% of agricultural land.
97% Livestock, 3% Wildlife
Humans and their livestock account for 97% compared to 3% for all wildlife. 1’706 grazing animals were killed by wolves in 2022, most in unprotected environments. Recreational hunting fails as a population control measure. More on the topic of herd protection, wolf protection and climate change.
