Hunting

Bern: The ugliest hunt in the world

It is about the money from the revenue generated by the licences that hobby hunters must purchase for their acts of animal cruelty. Today’s hunting is a war machine for leisure killers. Hobby hunters are avid buyers of expensive weapons and lethal hunting accessories. These are meant to be used — in the unfair slaughter.

Special hunt for deer in the Bernese Oberland

For hobby hunters, the special hunt for deer in the Bernese Oberland begins on Thursday, 16.11.2023.

Wildlife has not been genuinely regulated for decades, but rather decimated while birth rates are stimulated. Wildlife browsing damage is caused primarily by hobby hunting. Hobby hunting does not mean fewer animals, but more births. The regulation of wildlife populations is not achieved through hobby hunting. Hobby hunting is most often the cause of alleged problems.

Barbaric massacre of wildlife

The special hunt is always also an unethical and barbaric massacre of wildlife. Pregnant and nursing hinds, as well as roe does and their young — entire social structures — are shot down without mercy, even in the snow, as if in a blood frenzy. Shooting nursing mothers away from their young is despicable and mean. One cannot truly speak of craftsmanship, wildlife biology, or science here — it is simply hobby hunting, which is animal cruelty.

Hobby hunting is a thoroughly cruel activity, practised with neither caution nor respect, repeatedly endangering the safety of all involved. Wildlife lives in a landscape of fear. Out of fear of hobby hunters, many wild animals have permanently abandoned their natural habitat.

240 deer are to be culled

Hunting pressure and other factors increase the reproduction rates of the affected animal populations — something that can be observed not only in wild boar, foxes, roe deer, red deer and pigeons, but in every species.

The special hunt lasts until the end of November. During the main and post-hunt seasons, hobby hunters killed 870 deer this year. During the special hunt, 240 female deer and young animals are to be killed.
