A wolf is being hunted in the Goms following sheep kills
The fact that unprotected sheep are still being summered in the Goms after more than 20 years of wolf presence is a scandal and potentially violates the Animal Welfare Act. This law obliges animal keepers to protect their animals from known dangers.

Revised ordinance lowers the threshold
The predator has killed more than ten sheep in a protected situation as well as on an alp where no protective measures are possible. Under the revised Ordinance on the Federal Act on Hunting (JSV), which came into force on 15 July 2021, the conditions for ordering the shooting of an individual wolf have thus been met.
Once again, the sheep in Valais were deliberately exposed to a deadly danger.
Will the wrong wolf be shot again?
Wolves in the wild have neither a name tag, ear tag, nor ID. Therefore, only a DNA sample can determine which individual is involved. According to the cantonal wolf monitoring programme, two individual wolves are presumed to be present in the Goms.
