162 kg vegan burger sets Guinness World Record
Irish manufacturer Finnebrogue sets a Guinness World Record with a 162.5 kg vegan burger. It took 10 employees to make it.
The patty was the equivalent of more than 1’200 of the company’s regular plant-based burgers
Irish food manufacturer Finnebrogue Artisan has set the very first Guinness World Record for the largest vegan burger.
Ten employees were needed to make the burger. It measured 1.2 m in diameter and weighed an impressive 162.5 kg – almost 40% more than the target weight of 100 kg.
The patty was equivalent to 1’274 of the company’s regular Naked Evolution burgers.
It was topped with 10 kg of tomatoes, 4.5 kg of lettuce and 7 kg of cheese. It also contained 2 kg of tobacco onions, 5 kg of pickles, 5 kg of meatless bacon and 5 kg of Naked Burger sauce.
After the Guinness World Records team had verified the burger, Finnebrogue distributed it to employees and homeless people in the area.
The details
Finnebrogue’s communications manager, Anthea McAuley, explained the requirements for the record-breaking dish.
««All ingredients had to be certified vegan. We used our own recipe for the Naked Evolution Burger, which we launched in September 2021, and worked with local bakery Irwins to create a vegan bun», McAuley said in a statement.
«To avoid food waste on the day, in keeping with our own guidelines and those of Guinness World Records, we donated some of the finished burger slices to homeless charity The Simon Community. Our employees also enjoyed the delicious burger for lunch».
««The roast took nearly nine hours, so it was a long day. However, when we had added all the spices and Jack revealed the weight of the burger, we were overjoyed», he added, referring to Jack Brockbank, the Guinness World Records adjudicator.
It takes considerable planning and organization to pull off a feat of this magnitude.
