USA: Trade Show Promotes the Killing of Thousands of Animals
At the annual congress of Safari Club International, auctions for trophy hunts and products are expected to generate approximately 6 million dollars to continue the killing of iconic animal species.
850 Exhibitors from 30 Countries
In Nashville, thousands of hobby hunters are gathering at the annual conference of Safari Club International (SCI), with over 850 exhibitors. More than half of the exhibitors are hunting outfitters offering trophy hunts targeting the world's most endangered animal species such as elephants and lions.
The auctions are expected to generate nearly 6’000’000 dollars for SCI. Approximately 350 trophy hunting trips will be auctioned off to kill up to 870 mammals.
«Disgusting Glorification»
«Whether auctioning off a 100’000 dollar grizzly bear hunting trip or a 143’000 dollar hunt for lions and leopards, SCI turns iconic wildlife into shameful commodities», says Kitty Block, President of the Humane Society.
«We can no longer ignore the extinction of iconic species just so that trophy hunters can experience the thrill», says Sylvie Kremerskothen Gleason of HSI/Europe. More on the topic of hobby hunting and crime and hunting.
