Luxembourg was the first country in the world to abolish fares for all public transport in 2020. Three years later, residents are full of praise.

The system was introduced to curb the car problem. In 2020, Luxembourg had 696 cars per 1’000 inhabitants. “Since it is free, it is easier to choose public transport,” says Edgar Bisenius.

Costs Borne by All
