Mountain Forest Project: Volunteers for the Protection of the Mountain Forest

The Mountain Forest Project is looking for dedicated volunteers who would like to actively contribute to the preservation of the mountain forest during project weeks.

Editorial Team Wild beim Wild — 22 January 2025

Every year, the Mountain Forest Project organises around 180 deployments at more than 50 locations in Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

Volunteers are invited to actively participate, under expert guidance, in measures to promote biodiversity, sustainable management and stabilisation of the mountain forest.

The mountain forest is indispensable. It protects us from natural hazards such as avalanches, rockfalls and flooding. These vital protective functions benefit not only mountain regions, but also cities and the country as a whole. Yet the future of the mountain forest is under threat. Climate change and increasing pressures are endangering its stability and the vital services it provides for people and nature. In order to make the mountain forest more resilient and prepare it for future challenges, the Mountain Forest Project relies on targeted measures to promote biodiversity and continuous stewardship. The forest conversion project at the Lukmanier Pass pursues similar goals.

Get Involved and Strengthen the Mountain Forest

Through their active participation, volunteers experience the mountain forest up close: under expert guidance, they not only make a direct contribution to its preservation, but also deepen their understanding of the interconnections in nature. Accommodation is in simple lodgings directly in the project area, and meals are regional, seasonal and organic. The project weeks are open not only to individuals — school classes, companies and groups can also get involved.
