Swiss Agriculture Drives Away Birds
Birds apparently do not favour Switzerland, according to a new study. In the border regions with France and Germany, Swiss bird populations are smaller and less diverse than those of neighbouring countries. Swiss agriculture is cited as the cause.
25% fewer birds in Switzerland
In the agriculturally dominated areas of Switzerland, researchers from ETH Zurich and the Swiss Ornithological Institute in Sempach found 25% fewer territories and 12% fewer species than in neighbouring countries.
