No Meat: Better for Humans, Animals and the Environment

This is the slogan of IG Wild beim Wild for the new campaign.

Editorial Wild beim Wild — 2 April 2023

Eating meat means violence against animals and is a sign of human arrogance. People live better and healthier lives when they do not eat meat.

Livestock farming: the greatest driver of destruction

The main cause of the threat to biodiversity and water quality in Switzerland is agricultural livestock farming with 15 million farm animals. Ammonia levels have exceeded the maximum limit by 70% for decades.

63% follow a flexitarian diet

Even today, 63 % of the Swiss population consciously consume fewer animal products. More on the topic of vegan nutrition, climate change and environment and nature conservation.

More on the subject of recreational hunting: The scientific evidence is presented in the overview Studies on the Effects of Recreational Hunting.

The position of IG Wild beim Wild: IG Wild beim Wild rejects recreational hunting. Our model is the canton of Geneva, which has managed without recreational hunting since 1974: without hunting seasons, without hunting dogs, without driven hunts, without high seats, without the animal cruelty and crime that go hand in hand with hunting season elsewhere. What has worked there for over fifty years disproves every position paper by JagdSchweiz. An association that bases its policy on claims it refutes in its own documents is not a professional organisation, but a factory for misinformation.
