Recreational hunter Jacomella convicted of threatening Wild beim Wild
Instead of seeking professional help, recreational hunters prefer to project their disorders onto others.
The days of loafing around in the forest with a dangerous firearm appear to be numbered even for Jacomella Sergio from Aarburg/AG.
Anyone who has been familiar with the extremely militant Jacomella Sergio in the past — his mindset, his preferences, his comments on social media, and so on — knows that this recreational hunter is, in every respect, wholly unfit to handle weapons, let alone wildlife, in a decent and responsible manner. Yet he is even a hunting warden in the canton of Aargau — made possible by the old boys’ network of recreational hunters!
Yet no facade can deceive a sound mind.
For the IG Wild beim Wild, it is fundamentally incomprehensible that recreational hunters with such behaviour and a pronounced fondness for weapons and violence can hold a firearms licence and hunting permit at all. In military or police service, Jacomella Sergio would long since have been dishonourably discharged.
Even though people who hunt may have different character traits, all recreational hunters are ultimately united by the same activity: a violent treatment of peace-loving animals, often purely for fun, leisure, or sport. Psychologists, psychiatrists, and psychoanalysts speak, in connection with hunting, of serious psychological disorders among recreational hunters — for instance, the need to take out their frustrations on vulnerable creatures.
This has not yet resulted in a criminal record for Jacomella Sergio, as he has filed an objection. The verdict is therefore not yet final.
The Federal Court applies a strict practice on weapons law that is not widely known. According to Federal Court case law, two entries in the criminal register are sufficient to meet the conditions for the seizure of any weapons. This applies regardless of the nature of the offences, and it is not necessary to examine further whether the seizure is justified and proportionate in the individual case.
Mr. Jacomella Sergio is also among the ringleaders who, together with the militant association JagdSchweiz, are attempting to make the IG Wild beim Wild disappear from the scene or silence it through arbitrarily contradictory complaints. This is communicated clearly enough in an email to the members of the board.

One of our main concerns is to introduce a contemporary and serious wildlife management system in the cultivated landscape, modelled on the Canton of Geneva — without recreational hunters, but with upright wildlife wardens who truly deserve the name and act according to a code of honour. The monopoly on the use of force belongs in the hands of the state. The IG supports scientific methods of immunocontraception for wild animals.
