Ticino: Deceit, Lies, and Violence of Hobby Hunters

Those who kill senselessly do not protect anything, and civilized society gains nothing from it. Today's recreational hunting, with all its animal cruelty, is for the most part NOT carried out in the interest of society, nature, biodiversity, or the cultural landscape.

Editorial Wild beim Wild — August 16, 2019

There are people, such as the problem hunter Jacomella Sergio from Aarburg, who shape their daily lives with lies, brute violence, and deceit.

Such individuals like to join hunting associations and wallow with their like-minded peers in this cesspool. Now a court has once again condemned the deplorable conduct of a hobby hunter.

Jacomella Sergio, the amateur hunter from the Canton of Aargau, called hunting opponents, among other things, animal abusers, which resulted in a complaint filed by IG Wild beim Wild for defamation and insult. According to the ruling of the Aarau High Court dated July 11, 2019, it can now be established that this term clearly constitutes a morally reprehensible assertion that damages one's reputation as an honorable person. IG Wild beim Wild prevailed fully on appeal.

Jacomella Sergio

The accused, Jacomella Sergio, was unable to convince the court with his notoriously confused claims during the appeal proceedings, nor could he provide any evidence for his lies. This, after he had been acquitted by the court of first instance in Zofingen — where, however, through deceit and lies, typical of hunting behavior, he had obtained a fraudulent and wrongful verdict. This dishonesty and deceit have now earned Jacomella Sergio a criminal record entry.

Incidentally, the Lugano Public Prosecutor's Office recently declined to pursue a completely absurd and arbitrary complaint filed against IG Wild beim Wild by the same amateur hunter.

Recreational hunting can be a first symptom of a dangerous psychopathy that is not limited to animals alone. Numerous studies confirm that acts of violence against animals demand our full attention!

Jagd Schweiz

The hobby hunter David Clavadetscher belongs to the same cesspool. He, too, repeatedly attempts to twist facts and defame IG Wild beim Wild through legal complaints and other means.

On the one hand, the managing director of JagdSchweiz proselytizes in public in a sect-like manner with his distorted ideology and fairy tales. When one subsequently exposes the perverse excesses of his ilk at the association JagdSchweiz objectively and professionally, supported by studies and facts, one is coerced and inundated with criminal complaints. Troublesome contemporaries are, to put it in the words of these hobby hunters from the association JagdSchweiz: «to be silenced» and «to disappear from the scene».

Currently, yet another complaint has been filed by JagdSchweiz against IG Wild beim Wild, because Mr. Clavadetscher took offense at the following sentences in a fact-based article:

  1. The little brother of the German hunting association is the equally complex-ridden association «JagdSchweiz,» which preferably posts German-language content on its Facebook page in order to feel «big» as well.
  2. Board member Fabio Regazzi of the militant problem association «JagdSchweiz» has also repeatedly championed animal cruelty in the past. Recently, he even tried to make barbed hooks in fishing socially acceptable again. However, his endeavor ended in failure.
  3. Because of these hobby hunters, wild animals in Switzerland suffer.
  4. The association «JagdSchweiz» and other dubious hunting associations were primarily established to take action against predators (fox, lynx, wolf, and others) — their competitors for prey — and they continue to do so to this day. This is likely a principal reason why hobby hunters face criticism from all directions.
  5. The association JagdSchweiz primarily cultivates disrespect and a culture of violence — the exact opposite of what a civilized person in our society should strive for. Hobby hunters even threaten civil war should, for example, fox hunting be abolished.
  6. Members of the association JagdSchweiz maintain relationships with representatives of power in general. Furthermore, they resort to the use of violence or other means suited to intimidation (fearmongering, propaganda lies, hunting tall tales, etc.) in order to exert influence on politics, media, public administration, the judiciary, or the economy.
  7. Practically everything that is cruel, unnecessary, and heartless is promoted by the association JagdSchweiz.
  8. No effort is too great for these people from the dark world of the hunting milieu to manipulate democracy, freedom of the press, freedom of expression, and so on.

The behavior of a hobby hunter in the justice system is always a reflection of how hobby hunters operate in the forest, in politics, or in society.

Hobby hunters always react reluctantly to initiatives of common sense. Animal and species protection advocates have brought about greater wildlife protection in the hunting system — the abolition of leg-hold traps, the ban on bird hunting with lime sticks, and so on. Common sense was and remains the driving force behind restricting hunting seasons and reducing the number of huntable species. To prevent the extermination of animal species, animal welfare advocates imposed the moral obligation of stewardship and conservation on hobby hunters. The ethics of hobby hunters (if such a thing even exists) traditionally always lag behind the spirit of the times.

For state-employed game wardens, as with the model in Canton of Geneva, there is no reason to practice animal-abusive hunting methods such as den hunting, driven hunts, push hunts, and so on. There would be no abused hunting dogs.No unnecessary hunts targeting wildlife such as the fox. An alcohol ban in wildlife management would be established, and so on. Sanitary or therapeutic culling by game wardens is not the same as regulatory hunting based on hunters' tall tales or a misguided understanding of nature!
