India: Tiger Population Rising Again
For the first time in a decade and a half, more than 3'000 tigers are once again living freely in India. According to a census published on Sunday, 3'167 tigers were recorded in the wild across the entire country.
3’682 Tigers in India
India is by far the country with the most tigers in the world. 75% of all tigers counted worldwide live in India. In 1900, there were still 100’000 tigers worldwide. That number has dropped by more than 93%, and tigers now live in the wild in only 13 countries.
Tigers Hold Religious Significance
