Golden eagles bound and mistreated
A Valais “game warden” allegedly mistreated two golden eagles in 2018. The cantonal court acquitted him, but the public prosecutor's office is taking the case to the Federal Court.
The public prosecutor's office had accused the “game warden” of keeping and mistreating two eagles without authorisation. He bound them with a metal band in his barn and posed with them in a car.
A conspiratorial group tolerates poaching
If the witness statements are to be believed, there is a conspiratorial group among the 25 professional game wardens and 118 auxiliary game wardens as well as the 3’000 hobby hunters: they tolerate the poaching of predators and even actively encourage it. One hobby hunter reported that the game warden had urged him to shoot lynxes. “He said it was our job to exterminate the predators in Valais.” More on the topic Crime and Hunting.
