Similar personalities strengthen the bond

A new study by the Max Planck Institute has found that dogs and humans with particularly close relationships share similar personalities: warmth, enjoyment of time outdoors, and selflessness.

Positive personality traits in dogs include energy, affection, openness, and agreeableness. Antisocial and destructive dogs were associated with problematic relationships.

Excessive attachment as a problem

Highly attached owners can frequently cause psychological problems in their pets, such as increased separation anxiety. Prospective owners should focus more on personality and attachment aspects. More on the topic of wildlife and studies.
