Dogs and Carnival: No Fun for the Furry Ones

Carnival parades are pure stress for dogs. Loud music and crowds can trigger fear in four-legged companions. Dogs do not belong at parades.

The carnival floats are ready at the starting line. Unfortunately, at such parades one repeatedly sees dog owners bringing their four-legged companions into the loud commotion. For the pets, this is no fun at all.

The sensitive canine ear

Dogs hear many times better than we do. While the human ear perceives sounds from 20 hertz, four-legged companions can detect frequencies from 15 to 50’000 hertz.

Hazards lurk everywhere

Apart from the acoustic stress, the animals could accidentally be stepped on in the crowds. Broken glass lying on the ground poses a significant risk of injury to dogs' paws.

Hands off costumes

“The anthropomorphisation of animals through absurd costuming is not species-appropriate. By trying to visually transform animals, we ignore their right to dignity,” says Janine Cirini from VIER PFOTEN Switzerland. More on the topic of animal rights.
