Demo in Trentino: Release of bear JJ4 demanded
After bear JJ4 was captured and taken to a wildlife sanctuary, hundreds of people gathered on Sunday to demonstrate for her release.
Hundreds demand release
Hundreds demonstrated in front of the Casteller wildlife sanctuary for the release of bear JJ4, who had attacked and killed a jogger at the beginning of April. “Bears are the victims of the provincial government” could be read on placards. JJ4 was separated from her three cubs when she was captured.
Sister of “problem bear” Bruno
JJ4, also known by the name Gaia, is the sister of “problem bear” Bruno, who was killed in Bavaria in 2006. A court suspended the culling order. A hearing is scheduled for 11 May. More on the topic Species protection and Animal rights.
