Sex ban demanded for all meat-eating men

PETA is calling for a sex ban for all meat-eating men. The provocative campaign is intended to draw attention to the climate damage caused by meat production.

A study published by the scientific online journal PLOS ONE found that men contribute significantly more to the climate catastrophe than women, primarily through their meat consumption.

They emit a full 41% more greenhouse gases compared to the female population through their eating habits. Recently, French Green politician Sandrine Rousseau had called for a rethink so that meat “is no longer regarded as a symbol of masculinity at the barbecue“.

Who isn’t familiar with them — the suburban dads wielding beer bottles and barbecue tongs, sizzling 70-cent sausages on their 700-euro grills. The courgette added to the grill by a guest is eyed with suspicion and only reluctantly tolerated. The fact that Germany’s ‘grill masters’ feel compelled to prove their masculinity to themselves and their peers through their meat consumption does not only come at the expense of animals. Now there is scientific evidence that toxic masculinity is also harmful to the climate. A hefty meat tax of 41 percent for men would therefore be appropriate. A sex or reproduction ban for all meat-eating men would also be effective in this context. After all, every child not born saves 58.6 tonnes of CO2 equivalents per year. For all fathers still grilling meat who nonetheless wish for children with a liveable future on a habitable planet, we recommend transforming their lifestyle by participating in our free Veganstart programme.
