A court in Cloppenburg convicts a 73-year-old recreational hunter who, during a driven hunt, struck a woman in the face on her own property. We show why driven hunts remain the most accident-prone form of hunting and how Spanish providers sell trophy hunting as package tours to Swiss recreational hunting clubs.
Plus the half-time review of herd protection: more wolves, considerably fewer kills, 183 instead of 402 livestock animals killed. The difference lies not with the predators, but with herd protection. We question the STS label compass, which assesses the conditions under which killing is permitted, and still calls that animal welfare.
In the second part: drought, empty reservoirs and weakened hedgehogs, plus the climate funds for the forest being scrapped from 2027, where in the end roe deer and red deer threaten to become the convenient scapegoats.
