Wild boar shot from behind the wheel
A 45-year-old man who had pursued fleeing wild boar through the nature park «Parco dell'Alta Murgia» in his car and shot them directly from behind the wheel was tracked down by the Carabinieri and reported for poaching and killing wildlife in a nature reserve.
The officers caught wind of the hobby hunter because his seven-year-old daughter had filmed the brutal poaching on her smartphone.
20,000 Euro fine
A rifle was also found during the house search and immediately confiscated. The 45-year-old himself was reported for poaching and killing wildlife in a nature reserve.
In a parallel case, celebrating hobby hunters were identified with eleven killed wild boar, having slaughtered the animals in unlicensed premises. For various violations of slaughter regulations as well as for disregarding COVID restrictions, all identified hobby hunters were issued fines totalling approximately 20,000 euros.
