Icelandic horse shot in 2018

As early as 2018, this recreational hunting incident had caused an uproar in the municipality of Wilnsdorf in the Siegerland region.

The shocked owner had found the dead Icelandic horse on Whit Monday 2018 behind her house in the pasture. An expert determined that “Feykir” had been killed with two shots fired from a distance of approximately 60 metres.

Hunting companion faces trial

The actual shooter (62) from Gummersbach was acquitted. Now his hunting companion (54) from Wilnsdorf had to answer before the court. He is alleged to have incited the other to fire the shot.

During the hearing, several human dramas and disturbing revelations came to light. It was established that a hobby hunter had used a thermal imaging camera that night, something he had initially denied. The hunting companion had pressured the shooter to keep silent.

The prosecutor called for an acquittal, as the charge of gross negligence could not be established beyond doubt. Legal consequences under hunting law remain open. The hobby hunters have once again done what they do best: lie! More on this under Crime and Hunting.
