Prohibited Weapons for Hobby Hunters
The recipient of the freight shipment stated that the items were upgrade accessories for the sights of his hunting weapons. Targeting spotlights are devices designed for firearms that are intended to enable a visible representation of the target through illumination by light beams under poor lighting conditions or in darkness.
“The legislature classifies such devices as prohibited weapons, even though they are not weapons as such but rather weapon accessories,” explained Christine Strass of the Frankfurt am Main Main Customs Office.
Criminal proceedings were initiated against the hobby hunter. The targeting devices were seized as evidence. More on crime and hobby hunting.
