Celebrities Against Trophy Hunting
In an emotional letter, 35 celebrities appeal to Federal Environment Minister Steffi Lemke to immediately stop the import of hunting trophies from endangered and protected animal species into Germany.
4’242 Trophy Imports Since 2016
Between 2016 and 2022, the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation recorded 4’242 imports of hunting trophies from protected species into Germany. 89% of the population opposes such imports. Celebrities such as Jane Goodall, Ranga Yogeshwar and Maria Furtwängler are calling for an import ban.
Germany Remains Inactive
France, the Netherlands, Finland and Great Britain have already enacted import bans or are planning to do so. “Trophy hunting is nothing more than a disgusting pastime for wealthy, desensitised people,” says Peter Höffken of PETA.
