Scientists have long argued that play is an indicator of the health and well-being of animals A research team at the University of Adelaide has now found that playing with cats can also foster a closer bond.
«Our survey results show that greater playfulness in the cat and a higher number of games played are significantly associated with a better quality of life for the cat,» says lead author Julia Henning.
Indoor cats happier
Keeping cats exclusively indoors was significantly associated with a higher quality of life compared to cats with access to outdoor areas. The study was published in Animal Welfare. More on the topic of animal rights.
