Animal abusers wanted: Roe deer fawn's snout taped shut
Unknown animal abusers taped shut the snout of a roe deer fawn in Bodelshausen. A rescue attempt failed: by Monday evening, the wild animal was dead.
According to a media report, a roe deer fawn in Bodelshausen in the district of Tübingen had its snout sealed with adhesive tape.
Fawn would have died of thirst or starvation
Residents discovered the injured animal on 20 June in a garden plot on Schlehenweg.
In the course of a rescue attempt, the adhesive tape was removed. The fawn was then placed near a hedgerow close to the forest edge, in the hope that its mother might find it again. However, the young animal was so weakened that it was found dead not far away on the following Monday evening.
PETA offered a reward of 2,050 euros in total for information leading to the apprehension of the perpetrators.
It is shocking how frequently cruel acts of violence are committed against animals. In this brutal case, the perpetrators must be found as quickly as possible. Anyone who apparently deliberately tapes shut the snout of a defenceless young wild animal may well not hesitate to commit acts of violence against humans either.

Animal cruelty is not a minor offence but a criminal act under Section 17 of the Animal Welfare Act and can be punished with a fine or a custodial sentence of up to three years.
