In Thuringia, Germany, another tragic incident occurred in which a hobby hunter accidentally shot a horse while out on a hunting trip.

The 39-year-old hobby hunter admitted to having mistaken the horse for wildlife when he fired the shot. The incident was reported to the police in Thuringia, who have launched an investigation, reports thüringen24.de.

Calls for stricter regulations

Once the incident became known, it triggered a wide public debate. Many people expressed their dismay at the tragic mix-up and called for stricter regulations governing recreational hunting, in order to prevent such incidents in the future.

Investigation into negligence

The owner of the shot horse mourned his beloved animal and stated that he was shocked and speechless about the incident.
