SLAY – The Film That Gets Under Fashion's Skin
The documentary film SLAY examines the impact of animal materials in fashion. It was co-produced by the co-producer of Cowspiracy.
Documentary about fur, leather and wool
A new documentary examining the impact of animal materials in the fashion industry has been released. The film is available for free on the streaming platform Waterbear.
SLAY was co-produced by one of the directors of the film Cowspiracy. Director Rebecca Cappelli travels through seven countries to trace the supply chains of leather, fur and wool.
Cappelli visits tanneries in India, speaks with migrant workers in Italy, investigates deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon, visits fur wholesale markets in China, and breaks into a farm in Australia with activists to rescue an orphaned lamb.
Greenwashing and cover-ups
But this documentary is about far more than just animal rights. Cappelli addresses the current sustainability debate and shows that the social and environmental impacts of animal materials are not being adequately represented.
Rebecca's journey of discovery spans 5 continents and reveals a shocking story of greenwashing, false labelling, animal cruelty and cover-ups by some of the world's biggest luxury fashion brands.
