Fresh blood for Bavarian colony
Ten ibexes from Switzerland are to find a new home in the Bavarian Alps. They are intended to bring fresh blood into the ibex colony at the Benediktenwand, which is threatened by inbreeding.
800 ibexes in Bavaria
According to the Bavarian Ministry of Forestry, there are approximately 800 ibexes in the Free State. At the Benediktenwand, natural exchange with other colonies is barely possible due to its isolated location. More on the topic of species conservation and wildlife.
