Police seize 70 weapons from hobby hunters
During the execution of a house search, approximately seventy firearms and hunting weapons were discovered and seized. A criminal investigation is underway.
At the beginning of the week, the cantonal police intervened in Semsales FR on behalf of the public prosecutor's office.
70 weapons seized, some prohibited
As part of a criminal investigation initiated by the public prosecutor's office for violations of the Criminal Code, the cantonal police intervened on Monday, 30 August 2021, at the home of a 64-year-old hobby hunter residing in Semsales in the canton of Fribourg .
During the execution of the search and seizure warrant, approximately seventy weapons were discovered and seized, some of which are prohibited under the weapons legislation.
The Fribourg public prosecutor's office is currently conducting a criminal investigation against the suspected hobby hunter .
Not an isolated case in the canton either
Following a case of poaching in early August 2019 near Remaufens FR, the Fribourg cantonal police seized around 70 firearms of all kinds. Around twenty of these weapons had illegal modifications, such as silencers and night-vision scopes.
The investigation led to five individuals. The public prosecutor's office is conducting proceedings against them for violations of the federal weapons legislation and the hunting legislation.
There are no associations with legal status in Switzerland whose members are as deeply rooted in criminal activity as those of Jagd Schweiz and its affiliated organisations.
