Nothing is more outrageous than a predator as a brooch

Lion's head on the runway

On Monday, Kylie Jenner stole the show at the Schiaparelli Couture Show in Paris when she appeared in a black, strapless velvet gown adorned with a life-size lion's head.

The hyperrealistic art piece covered Jenner's entire upper body. According to the show notes, the collection was inspired by Dante's “Inferno” and the nine circles of hell, said Creative Director Daniel Roseberry.

Naomi Campbell wore a faux fur coat featuring a wolf's head, while Canadian model Shalom Harlow wore a dress with a snow leopard pattern. The pieces were crafted entirely by hand from foam and other synthetic materials.

“Tasteless and glorifying violence”

Critical voices emerged shortly after the show. Amid an ongoing discussion surrounding the suffering of animals caused by fashion, Roseberry's designs were interpreted online as “glorifying trophy hunting” and “promoting violence against animals.” Users also accused the label of poor taste regarding the choice of animals, which are endangered species.
