No to Lessons by Hobby Hunters in Schools

Let us resist.

Editorial Wild beim Wild — 31 January 2023

Sect-like Image Campaign in Schools

For some time now, it has been observed that hunting-enthusiast hobby hunters are conducting a sect-like image campaign in kindergartens and schools, with the goal of introducing our animal-loving children to the cruel hobby of hobby hunting .

The manipulation of children takes place through playful methods and is promoted as a nature conservation project. The militant hobby hunters also violate the charter of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child with their activities: that children are protected from violence.

Let us resist. We say NO to the teaching of our children by hobby hunters.

With this campaign, IG Wild beim Wild aims to protect minors from the harmful effects of the violence of hobby hunters . The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child includes, among other things, the right of all minors to physical and mental integrity.

Hunting Culture and Violence in Schools

The uncouth culture of hobby hunters is linked to school shootings. There are studies showing that students involved in school shootings had “practised” on animals and that many of them hunted.

According to experienced child psychologists, hunting conveys dangerous values to children. Children are falsely led to believe that it is acceptable to ignore the feelings, needs and rights of other living beings. Yet they should instead be taught that it is important to treat others with respect and care — and this naturally includes animals.
